Récemment, j’ai changé de machine pour mes labs!, j’ai choisi de prendre une station Acer pour la taille, la config et le prix!

C’est une mini-station ACER X3990 Intel I5 (2300mhz) 8Go ram 2T de disk. Environ 600€

Evidement le disk a été remplacé par un Sata de 160 Giga, et le 2 tera est allé dans mon NAS netgear RNDU2000-100PES.

C’est donc pour moi une machine idéale pour faire un lab!

Seulement, j’ai eu un problème lors de l’Install de l’esxi5 enfin âpres, l’Install c’est très bien passée mais au reboot! Rien! Pas d’esx! C’est du a UEFI voir http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unified_Extensible_Firmware_Interface

Pour pouvoir utiliser la machine avec un autre OS que Windows j’ai du mettre a jour le Bios de la machine avec un Bios estampillé Linux et refaire l’installation en utilisant un paramètre spécifique! –formatwithmbr

Voici la manip:

From ESXi 5.0, if you install ESXi to a empty hard disk, the target disk will be prepared with GPT-based partitions. That may cause some boot delay or even boot problem in some desktop motherboard.
Fortunately, you can use MBR mode instead of GPT.

Step:
1 Make a clean hard disk for ESXi. You can use any method to delete all partitions on that disk.
2 Boot with ESXi CD. During initial installation step, press Shift-O (letter, not number zero) when prompted (right down corner).
3 Type a space and “formatwithmbr” (without quotation marks). Press enter.
4 Go on setup. ESXi will make the target disk prepared with MBR-based partitions instead of GPT.
